Here are the best jewels from the most revered jewelry houses that were showcased on the festival’s red carpet.

The jewelry house has a deep history with the Festival as it’s been the official partner and designer of the coveted Palme d’Or trophy awarded to the most critically-acclaimed movie. This year, the buzz on the red carpet was their collaboration with music super-star Rihanna.

I loved getting to preview these jewels before they went up for auction in September’s Signature Sale

Heritage Auctions is one of my favorites to bid for luxury items because I know they are authentic and what they offer is pretty incredible! I even fell for some of their high-end designer bags!

All my favorite rings from the September Signature Sale–that moonstone is amazing! It is by Paula Crevoshay

Heritage Auctions always has something exciting going on, whether it is a celebrity’s jewels going up at auction or a fun preview touring across the US, or sales taking place at one of their multiple locations of Dallas, NYC, San Francisco, Chicago, Florida, Houston, and Beverly Hills (also a few worldwide). That’s what I like about Heritage Auctions…their ongoing reach at finding pieces to sell is incomparable, they are the experts. The company is a collector’s best friend, as they encourage the hobby of collecting but also want curation to be an important aspect for all collectors, so selling is just as important. Heritage is here to do both of these aspects for you–to help you buy and to help you sell–and their specialized categories are numerous, so whatever you are interested in, Heritage probably has a department for you! I like to focus on jewelry, so for me Heritage is great because not only do they have their Signature Sales, three per year, and Tuesday night auctions, which happen every Tuesday night, so jewelry lovers are fully satisfied.

I visited their headquarters last January in Dallas and got to see the facility first-hand, as well as try on some amazing pieces. This time around when I visited NYC, I got to checkout their east-coast location in the city that never sleeps. Just as suspected, the jewels were incredible and if you want to get excited for an upcoming sale, their December Signature Sale will be an event not to be missed! A lot of the pieces I tried on were from yesterday’s September Signature Sale, where bidders were setting records and auction hammers were flying. A significant lot featuring a pair of matching 18k yellow gold cuffs by Van Cleef & Arpels, were gifted on a wedding day by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to her step sister and sold for $162,500! Being able to wear them and photograph them myself is an honor in and of itself.

Heritage Auctions continually is a dominant source for designer jewelry–like Tiffany & Co., Cartier, Blvgari, David Webb, amongst many, many others. Their December Signature Sale, slated for December 5th-6th as a two-day event, has numerous designer pieces. But what you may not realize when glancing at a Tiffany & Co. bracelet or a Blvgari suite in that particular sale is who those pieces once belonged to. Heritage Auctions is so excited to be offering the jewels of Shirley Temple in their December sale! There are several pieces, many of which I got to try on in the photos above. Although the stories behind the jewels, like where or who they are from, when did she wear them, what were her favorites, may not be known, the fact that they were once hers make them that much more special.

Take a look at December’s upcoming catalog, more jewelry will be added as it becomes available:

8.43 carat Emerald cut diamond ring set in platinum, once owned by Shirley Temple

Lapis and pearl tassel necklace, once owned by Shirley Temple

Tiffany & Co. orange enamel and turquoise bracelet, once owned by Shirley Temple

Art Deco platinum charm bracelet featuring 15 charms, once owned by Shirley Temple

Matching pair of Blvgari rings, one in ruby and one in emerald, once owned by Shirley Temple

Your Jewel Horoscope As Told By Fellows’ Upcoming Antique & Modern Sale

zodiac3 zodiac11

Are you into Astrology? Aside from day-to-day predictions, I love learning about my sign and seeing how it compares with my life and how I live. It fascinates me and from what I’ve read, I really do think my sign matches with my personality, both the negatives and positives. Growing up, I would read my daily horoscope in the local newspaper regularly–it was that and the “Puppies For Sale” classifieds which I read, and nothing more. I thought it would be fun to put together my own “Jewel Horoscope” based on astrological sign characteristics using jewelry from the upcoming Antique & Modern Jewellery Sale from Fellows Auctions. The sale is set for Thursday, March 10th, 2016.

Be sure to check out the entire catalogue online and register to bid!

Aries, March 21-April 19

Lot 451: A double ram head bangle was an easy choice for Aries, as your sign is represented by a ram. Adventurous, courageous, and quick-witted…so many strong characteristics make up an Aries that this bangle would coordinate almost too well with your demeanor! Done in 18k yellow gold and set with rubies and diamonds.

Taurus, April 20-May 20

Lot 251: A classic, investment piece is right up your alley if you’re a Taurus and this lapis necklace is exactly that. Done in yellow gold with Italian origin, sleek and modern combine to form this beauty. Suspended from a belcher-style chain and measuring 18 inches in length.

zodiac6 zodiac4

Gemini, May 21-June 20

Lot 82: Nothing more “Gemini” than these earrings–first off, because there are two, a pair if you will, and secondly, they are mismatched. One earring features rock quartz, the other blue chalcedony–two very different colors and gems. These are done in 18k yellow gold and set with ruby and diamonds as well.

Cancer, June 21-July 22

Lot 67: A pair of yellow gold ear pendants, these have such a unique style to them. The are of the verge of being kitschy, while at the same time so classic/modern. These earrings reflect the strength and compassion of a Cancer sign.

zodiac zodiac12

Leo, July 23-August 22

Lot 533: A late 19th century micromosaic brooch depicting two birds together–possibly swans? A Leo’s ambition is mighty, leading me to believe a fellow Leo must be the artist behind this micromosaic, a painstakingly daunting task of placing each tiny piece of glass or pottery down to create a beautiful scene. If the birds are really swans, this can represent your passion and loyalty.

Virgo, August 23-September 22

Lot 84: Virgo’s perfectionist attitude would love this ring–as well as the beautiful diamonds in this Edwardian stunner. The diamonds total about one carat and are very clean, and yes Virgos are known to be clean-freaks. 18k gold with a platinum top, typical of the time period.

zodiac7 zodiac10

Libra, September 23-October 22

Lot 256: Known for being a great host, I can picture these gorgeous aquamarine and diamond earrings dangling from your Libra ears as you are gathering a party together! This pair is dynamic, with just the right amount of color vs. diamond sparkle. Elegance is also a characteristic of yours, and these match perfectly!

Scorpio, October 23-November 21

Lot 439: Big and bold, this all diamond ring set with a black gemstone in the center commands attention, just as you do Scorpio! Over two carats of sparkling color, different hues creating a powerful combination. This piece is done in 18k white gold. Love it!

zodiac9 zodiac5

Sagittarius, November 22-December 21

Lot 510: A late 19th century gold and garnet snake necklace represents our Sagittarius sign. Both rare in the antique world and covetable, same goes for your outlook on life! Always spiritual in nature, this snake necklace will remind you of how good vs. evil first began. Such a symbolic piece for a philosophical person.

Capricorn, December 22-January 19

Lot 318: As a Capricorn, you prefer luxury, so what could be more luxurious than a Bvlgari serpenti ring. This particular ring is done in 18k rose gold. All the viable markings and hallmarks are there–this piece is just waiting to be worn in the chicest way possible!

zodiac2 zodiac8

Aquarius, January 20-February 18

Lot 340: As a trendsetter, you go for it–this exquisite Cartier brooch set with aquamarines will do it for you! Aquarius is a water sign, so that also lines up with the gemstone colors and look of the brooch. This piece would look stunning clipped to an elegant black top or attached to a velvet choker. As an Aquarius, you’ll have fun with all the possibilities!

Pisces, February 19-March 20

Lot 2: Figa charms for a strong, water sign (yes, one even has a fish dangling) perfect for the Pisces. This piece is sentimental in nature and can represent many things, which lines up with how empathetic and caring Pisces are. Looks like there are five charms that dangle from the main figa–such a cool piece!

The Best Designer Diamond Engagement Rings for Fall

Planning to propose this season? When you ask for her hand in marriage, it should be a special moment that will be remembered for a lifetime, and the holidays and change of seasons provides an ideal setting. Whether the betrothal takes place while strolling through the park surrounded by a rainbow of colored leaves, or sitting cozily by the fireplace on Christmas Eve, watching her eyes light up at the sight of the ring is a truly breathtaking part of the experience. But as you plan the engagement, selecting the right ring that expresses the promise of commitment as well as her personal style can be complicated.

With so many gorgeous designs and models by top fashion labels, how can you tell which one will be a match for representing the bond you share as a couple? At Luxury Bazaar, we can’t help falling in love – as Elvis Presley would say – but we can help with selecting an engagement ring. Our jewelry inventory specials have a wide variety of designer diamond engagement bands in stock, featuring current trends of the bridal industry. Here we highlight five of our favorite bands from the selection.

If there’s one luxury jewelry designer that lives and breathes engagement rings, it’s Tiffany & Co. The Etoile Platinum Diamond Engagement Ring for $5,900 exhibits a simple platinum design with a brilliant-cut diamond perched in the center. Accompanying the mesmerizing main stone are other sparkling diamonds on each side. Ladies who adore classic elegance will want to show off this rock’s stunning appearance.

Multi-cut gemstones have been a rising trend amongst many fashion designers in the bridal jewelry industry within the last few years. Chanel has been one to join in the movement, as demonstrated in the design of the Platinum Diamond Engagement Ring for $14,500, which features a large brilliant-cut diamond complemented by three separately shaped diamonds embedded in thick platinum.

For a glamorous presence with a regal vibe, the design of the 18K White Gold Diamond Engagement Ring by Bvlgari for $16,500 fits the spectrum perfectly. The plethora of diamonds set in the 18K white gold band endlessly glitter, making any engagement hard to go unnoticed. An oval shaped diamond is complemented by two baguette diamonds on each side while surrounded by round brilliant-cut diamonds.

Gem Gossip Visits Williams Galleries in Nashville, TN

I like to brag about living in Nashville as much as I can–especially to my counterparts who live in NYC and LA, who think their high cost of living, traffic jammed cities are the best places to live. Lucky for me, I have one more thing to boast about besides the wonderful people who call TN home and the rolling hills of the countryside, and that is Williams Galleries in Green Hills. Predominately an art gallery featuring 19th & 20th Century American paintings and antique American folk art, lifelong collecting and researching has spawned this space. Ideally tucked away, by appointment-only, surrounded by upscale shops, great restaurants, and an ever-growing locale–Williams Galleries is Nashville’s best kept secret for fine antique and estate jewelry.

Randi Williams, who owns the gallery along with her husband, is keeper of the jewels, where she gladly wears pieces from her inventory in the coolest way possible. A Bvlgari suite from the 1960s? She has worn those chic pieces with black leather pants and a V-neck. A bold plume-like French dress clip by Suzanne Belperron? She has tucked it seamlessly against a belt for a head-turning look. Her attitude toward these high-end pieces of jewelry is dynamic and has others catching on by investing in pieces by Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Seaman Schepps, Rene Boivin, amongst others. Jewelry of this stature should not lead one to feel intimidated by it–Randi has been teaching this to her clients since she started.

I got to try on numerous pieces–so many rare and fine jewels, all drool-worthy and highly covetable. A backdrop of art went hand-in-hand with its appeal, and one soon began to blur the lines between the art hanging on the walls and the art hanging from our ears, necks, wrists and coiling around our fingers. Jewelry, after all, is art–from the gemstones, to the gold and everything in between. There’s a reason why one might not realize this when you walk into any other jewelry store. But when you ring the doorbell and enter Williams Galleries, and begin to feast your eyes on the remarkable pieces of jewelry, you soon learn these are wearable masterpieces by highly skilled artists called jewelers.

Make sure to stop by Williams Galleries if you are ever in the Nashville area. Don’t forget it is by appointment only. If you have any questions, feel free to email Randi at [email protected]

Special thanks to Clark Heldman for facilitating the meetup and being a great model!

On the Grayscale: Sophisticated Accents by Bvlgari

This season’s fashion trends, so far, have showed us that the world is not just black and white. Style enthusiasts can discover all the gray colors that exist in between by viewing the designs of this year’s latest fashion. The color has quickly become a target, as fall’s “it” color, appearing in designer collections all across the runways. Balenciaga, Valentino, Hermès and Bvlgari are a couple high-end brands that have been debuting gray shades throughout their ensembles, especially during NYC Fashion Week. Ladies and gentlemen can incorporate just about every gray hue there is – blues, tans, greens, pinks and purples – into their outfit.

As it is said, “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder,” which means the color of gray is only as bleak as you make it. How you opt to wear gray in your outfit can transform its typical connotation of being a bland color into an attractive tone. As you style up cashmere, wool and leather throughout the cool weather months, accessorize with striking gray luxury jewelry and watches to complete your look. If you’re still not too excited about integrating gray into your wardrobe, consider embracing it with other colorful, corresponding tones. Like a gloomy cloud that delivers rain to blooming flowers, its manifestation in upscale fashion can enhance the vibe you want to express.

We’ve turned to Bvlgari as one of our main influencers for styling with gray tones, using high-end accessories. Here we feature some of their models from our selection that make ideal accents for creating a classy, sophisticated presence.

The extreme contrast of black against white and gray in the design of the Platinum Limited Edition AC 38P by Bvlgari for $11,995 provides a sleek, masculine look for the polished gentleman. This timepiece is one of only 99 in existence worldwide, featuring a silver dial, platinum case, black bezel and black rubber bracelet. Three chronograph subdials are displayed, along with the indication of the date, hours, minutes and seconds.

Stainless steel and ceramic elements produce a light dove gray tone to express a mellow, exotic vibe in the Serpenti Spiga One Twirl Wristwatch by Bvlgari for $4,410. A jewelry bracelet and luxury timepiece mixed into one, the design is exquisitely one-of-a-kind. The white dial indicates the hours and minutes, taking the shape of a snake slowly coiling.

The chalcedony gemstone boasts a blue-gray hue within the Tronchetto 18K White Gold Chalcedony Ring by Bvlgari for $950, showcasing a bulky appearance. A gold outline travels around the stone surrounded by thick 18K white gold.

Gray makes an appealing background for incorporating patterns, as demonstrated in the Parentesi 18K White Gold Partial Pave Necklace by Bvlgari for $10,815. A glimmering partial diamond pave travels amongst a unique pattern made of 18K white gold.

For a simple, gray hue that dominates, the B.ZERO1 18K White Gold Hoop Earrings by Bvlgari for $1,925 would pair well. The 18K white gold earrings display a smooth, shiny surface that reflects the light, while letters of the label’s name are imprinted along the sides.

I’ve been staring at earrings for days on end. Why, you may ask?! Well it is the last piece of the puzzle for my wedding day look that has yet to be decided upon, and the earrings will be the pièce de résistance. I’ve had my eye out for some dramatic, long drops and I couldn’t help but notice how many amazing pairs of drop earrings are in the upcoming Signature Sale this month from Heritage Auctions. In fact, out of the 535 lots in September’s sale, there are 155 which include earrings. Some of these pieces are the most exquisitely crafted items I’ve seen–earrings from Cartier, Bvlgari, Van Cleef & Arpels, to name a few. The assortment that caught my eye, seen above, all have a drop style to them, as well as some mesmerizing colors. Bold yellows thanks to citrine and yellow diamonds, soft blues thanks to sapphire, tanzanite, apatite, turquoise and chalcedony. Any of these pairs of earrings would be great contenders for my wedding day look. Whomever is the high bidder of these will have some timeless earrings that will surely give anyone Earring Envy!

Don’t miss these earrings and many other lots in Heritage Auctions’ Signature Sale which takes place September 28th, 2015! You can bid at their Dallas showroom in person or online. Check out this page for more details on how to bid.

Lot 54015: This pair of earrings takes one of my favorite earring motifs–the domed, gemstoned design–and makes it twice as nice with two domes full of gems. The smaller dome is positioned on the ear lobe as the larger dome dangles below. The earrings are set with a unique combination of gemstones–topaz and tsavorite–which are cut in multiple shapes (ovals and rounds), all set in 18k pink gold. Such a stunning pair! Estimate: $5,000-7,000

Lot 54089: A waterfall of cascading sapphires and diamonds create the look of this pair of earrings by Chanel. They are from the La Pluie Collection and are set with multi-cut colored diamonds and sapphires done in 18k pink gold! Also good to note that these are designed as clip-ons, so no need to have your ears pierced to wear them. Estimate: $25,000-35,000

Lot 54144: Designed by Palmiero, this ultra-modern pair of earrings takes a forever-known motif–the heart–and puts a fun spin on it. All these colors you are seeing are diamonds, believe it or not, and they are set in an abstract way giving the earrings splashes of color. Set in 18k white gold and designed for pierced and non-pierced ears, so the option is beneficial for everyone! Estimate: $6,000-8,000

Lot 54155: Some Italian flair with these earrings by Bvlgari–set in 18k white gold and cabochons of bold colors. The gemstones are pink tourmaline, blue topaz, citrine, peridot and of course, diamonds! What a killer combination! Love the design and they are sure to flatter any ear. Estimate: $5,000-7,000

Lot 54161: I picture these stunning earrings worn on a snowy holiday night out! The black diamonds and white diamonds cascade down from a central “snowflake” and measure 3.5 inches long. They are set in 18k white gold and are by Palmiero. Total diamond weight is 7.12 carats approximately and includes both black and white. Estimate: $10,000-15,000
